ABA Parent Training and Coaching
Parents and caregivers are the most important part of success at home. We teach practical strategies you can actually use, so you are not guessing in the hardest moments.

Why parent training matters
Your child spends far more hours with you than with any therapist. When parents learn the same strategies the ABA team uses, skills show up in more places and progress lasts. Research supports this: in a randomized trial published in JAMA, a structured parent-training program reduced disruptive behavior in young autistic children more than parent education alone[1]. The American Academy of Pediatrics also describes parent-implemented intervention as an important part of autism care[2].
What we work on together
- Understanding why your child's behaviors happen (see functional behavior assessment)
- Preventing meltdowns with predictable routines, visual schedules and clear "first-then" expectations
- Responding to tantrums, aggression and refusal calmly and consistently
- Building communication into everyday routines
- Daily living skills: toileting, dressing, mealtimes, bedtime
- Safety plans for running off or unsafe behavior
- Getting through outings, appointments and holidays
How coaching works
- We start with your priorities. The one or two situations that make daily life hardest.
- We explain the strategy in plain language, with no jargon.
- We model it with your child during real routines.
- You practice while we coach and give feedback.
- We review progress together and adjust.
Parent coaching is included in every Thrive ABA program, at home, at school and in the community. For quick ideas you can try today, see behavior help at home.

Frequently asked questions
Please reach us at info@thrivebehavioraltherapy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Is parent training included in ABA therapy?
Yes. Parent coaching is part of every Thrive ABA program, and many insurance plans cover it as part of ABA services.
Do both parents need to attend?
Anyone who regularly cares for your child is welcome, including grandparents and nannies. The more caregivers use the same strategies, the faster children learn.
Can I get parent training without my child receiving ABA?
